A championship title has been missing in Maranello for too long, and Christian Horner believes that the pressure rises every year for such a historical team like Ferrari.
The last driver champion for the Scuderia was Kimi Räikkönen, already 17 years ago, and the constructor championship has been missing for 16 years. These are statistics that no one would expect from one of the most prestigious teams on the grid.
Moreover, the Red Bull team principal believes that being a “national team”, Ferrari faces even more pressure every year compared to any other outfit.
“Ferrari is a different type of team, a national team.
“There is a pressure that comes with that, and the Italian media is absolutely brutal and scrutinizes every move. There is just huge expectation.”
In the past, Ferrari went close to winning the championship, but getting close is not enough, and the “tifosi” expect a lot more. Mistakes and not-so-competitive cars prevented the Scuderia from bringing the glory back to Italy. As time passes, the patience diminishes.
