Alexander Albon had an incredible season in 2023, showing his great talent despite a not-so-competitive Williams. Team boss James Vowles believes he can improve even more.
Albon helped the team clinch P7 in the standings, a great result after some tough years for the British team. The Thai driver scored 27 points, while his teammate Logan Sargeant only 1.
Vowles praised Albon for the way he approached the past season and for how he managed to work with a difficult car to drive, which was not always consistent and predictable.
“He’s really quick, he has the right mindset – and that’s really important, not just for him but for any driver to get the most out of themselves.
“I think if you look at him across the year, and even speak to him openly and candidly, he’s not the same driver that I started with in Bahrain. He has really matured across the season, and he got the most out of the car, there is no doubt about that.”
Ultimately, Vowles also said that Albon has not been able to show his real potential yet. He believes he still has room to improve and show his talent.
“What I like about him is he hasn’t stopped growing yet. He just wants to get in the car and drive quickly, and I think that’s why it works really well.”
