Red Bull and AlphaTauri’s closer partnership made some teams worried, and it also raised questions regarding the rules. However, Mercedes is not preoccupied about it, said James Allison.
Mercedes technical director stated that he knows what the rules are, and even though he doesn’t know “what the nature of the relationships between those two teams is” he is not too concerned.
He also added: “The way that rule is written is very broad and very powerful, and it pretty much makes any communication not permitted.
“It cannot be a strong technical or a strong sporting relationship because the rules forbid that.
“There is not much mileage to seek a close relationship with another team from a technical point of view because it is not allowed.”
However, other team principals like Zak Brown are preoccupied with the partnership between Red Bull and AlphaTauri. Brown also said that ” it’s a serious issue for the fairness of the sport” and he would like the sport to look into that since it “might give someone an unfair advantage”.
