Formula 1 announced on January 23rd that the Spanish GP will be held in Madrid from 2026 to 2035 on a brand-new track.
The circuit will be a mixture of street and non-street sections that will be built around the IFEMA exhibition center. It is going to be 5.47 km long, and it is set to feature 20 corners. The projected lap time should be around 1 minute 32 seconds.
This was made possible thanks to an agreement between Formula 1 and IFEMA MADRID. The track will be extremely easy to access as it is just 5 minutes away from the airport. Not only that, it is going to be possible to reach the circuit by metro, train, and city lines.
Formula 1 and IFEMA MADRID aim to make the Spanish GP “one of the most sustainable F1 events of the season” continuing the commitment toward the goal of Net Zero Carbon by 2030.
Stefano Domenicali shared some words regarding the new deal: “Madrid is an incredible city with amazing sporting and cultural heritage, and today’s announcement begins an exciting new chapter for F1 in Spain.
“I would like to thank the team at IFEMA MADRID, the Regional Government of Madrid, and the city’s Mayor for putting together a fantastic proposal. It truly epitomizes Formula 1’s vision to create a multi-day spectacle of sport and entertainment that delivers maximum value for fans and embraces innovation and sustainability.”
