Formula 1 and the Japanese GP organizers have found an agreement to extend the track’s contract until 2029.
The iconic Suzuka circuit has seen many legendary battles -Senna against Prost to remember one- and is one of the drivers’ favorite venues thanks to its layout with fast corners.
In 2024, the Japanese GP will take place in the early stages of the season and not at the end to reduce the pollution created by all the trips going from one race track to another. Formula 1 will race in Suzuka after the Australian GP and before China.
Stefano Domenicali, F1 CEO, spent a few words regarding the renewal: “Suzuka is a special circuit and part of the fabric of the sport, so I am delighted that F1 will continue to race there until at least 2029.
“As we prepare to return to Japan earlier than usual this season, I would like to express my huge gratitude to the promoter and team at Honda MobilityLand for supporting our effort towards greater calendar rationalization as we look to make the sport more sustainable.
“Our fans in Japan embrace Formula 1 with a unique passion and we look forward to working with the promoter to give fans the experience they deserve for years to come.”
