Red Bull team principal Christian Horner’s role is at risk after facing an internal hearing on Friday for complaints of inappropriate behavior.
News broke last Monday that Horner was under investigation.
“After the company was informed of certain allegations, an independent investigation has been launched,” a company spokesman had said, adding that they “take this very seriously.”
“The process, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external, specialized lawyer.
“The investigation will be completed as quickly as practicable. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time,” the statement concluded.
Horner denied the allegations to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf
Now, BBC Sport reports that “insiders” that are familiar with the situation “do not expect him to survive in his role.”
“This is not a trial and we are not going to have an answer and an outcome by the end of the day,” an insider explained.
“This is not something that is going to be rectified that quickly.
“People are expecting this to be over before the start of the F1 season, but that just isn’t going to happen.”
Additionally, the report from the BBC continued, saying that “if Horner is removed from his position, either by being sacked or resigning, sources say he would be replaced by an execute from the Austrian side of Red Bull.”
Red Bull declined to comment on the situation, saying that it would not be appropriate to comment.
