Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf reports that Christian Horner is being investigated by Red Bull due to alleged sexual misconduct.

News broke early January that Horner was under investigation for “inappropriate behavior,” but he had denied those allegations at the time. However, the cause was not given.

“This process, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external, specialized lawyer,” a Red Bull spokesman had said.

De Telegraaf reported on Friday that the cause of the investigation was sexual misconduct.

According to its sources, Horner inappropriately messaged sexually suggestive texts to a Red Bull employee over a consistent period of time.

These reports contradict previous stories that suggested the investigation was around the team principal’s aggressive leadership style.

The Briton had offered a settlement of up to US$616 thousand after the investigation.

Red Bull has received the final report from their independent lawyer, and it is now up to them to decide Horner’s fate with the team.
