Williams F1 Team driver Alexander Albon said the high-pressure sensor issues they faced during the morning session of the first day of pre-season testing are now fixed.
Testing began early Wednesday morning at the Bahrain International Circuit.
With 20 minutes to the end of the first stint, Albon’s Williams stopped due to mechanical issues, which were later attributed to bad fuel data from the car’s high-pressure sensors.
However, Albon said the issues were “all fixed now,” and he described it as a “fuel pump issue, the car goes into safety mode quite quickly.”
“Early days, definitely fixed some of the issues we had in the car, some of the corners felt better but as a consequence we are trying to balance some trade-offs,” he explained.
“We are making inroads already.”
Team principal James Vowles explaind they haven’t run any performance testing because they started with “huge aero rakes” that prevent them from doing so.
“Then we had the issue out on track, it wasn’t picked up with virtual testing but I’m glad it was picked up now and not next week [during the Bahrain Grand Prix].”
“It has delayed our [afternoon] session as you can see, the fuel is bedded in quite deep in the car which is causing the delay.
“There was plenty of fuel inside it, in short – plenty of fuel left inside it but [the car] couldn’t use it.”
