Aston Martin boss Mike Krack said the team wants to keep both of its drivers beyond the 2024 season.
Fernando Alonso’s contract with the team is set to expire by the end of the year, but Krack said he wants to continue the partnership with the Spaniard.
On the other hand, Lance Stroll’s contract details haven’t been made public since his father owns the team, but the assumption is that the Canadian will continue driving at Aston Martin.
Speaking during the pre-season tests at Bahrain, Krack said that the team is “very happy with the drivers we have,” and that they are “having conversations with both and we want to continue with both.”
Testing kicked off Wednesday morning at the Bahrain International Circuit, and will last until Friday evening, with two sessions each day.
Krack considered the three days of testing offer “very little” time compared to the two parts of pre-season that F1 had before in Spain, so he emphasized the team needs “to make sure” that its “tools are working.”
“There was not a single car that didn’t have an aerodynamic rake [during the morning session of pre-season testing on Wednesday].
“Then you move on in terms of set-up work, this is the start-of-season car but development is continuing.
“We’ll have different parts tomorrow and the next day,” he added about their car. “The development race is brutal, but we have put in place a very strong development program.”
