McLaren team principal Zak Brown said it is important that the Christian Horner investigation is handled “in a transparent way.”
Horner is being investigated for alleged inappropriate conduct since early January, and the latest reports accused him of sexual misconduct.
Speaking with the media during the pre-season testing, McLaren boss Brown said that “the allegations are extremely serious.”
“McLaren holds itself, all the men and women to the highest standards of diversity, equality and inclusion,” he added.
“They are extremely important to us, our partners, to everyone in Formula 1.
“The Red Bull corporation has launched an investigation and we hope that it is handled in a transparent way, and like the FIA and F1 has said, it needs to be handled swiftly.
“I don’t think these are the type of headlines Formula 1 wants or needs at this time,” Brown stated.
“I just think it is important that [the investigation] is handled in a transparent way, in which there is no doubt and no doubt whatsoever that it has been handled appropriately, and whatever the conclusion is, it is handled in an appropriate, transparent manner.”
Horner said during the Red Bull launch that it was “business as usual” at the team even though he was being investigated. However, when asked how it was possible, the team principal said that he could not comment about it because he was “part of that process.”
