Like during day two of testing, the third day was characterized by another red flag due to a drain cover coming off at turn 11 after Sergio Perez flicked it up.
The stewards started checking basically every drain cover on the track, especially the one that came off at the entry of turn 11. The downforce and grip that modern F1 cars generate have proven to be an issue so far for the drain covers in Bahrain, as they come off pretty easily.
To recover the time lost, Formula 1 announced that the midday break between 12 PM and 1 PM was canceled, and the day would end at 5 PM. This was done to recover the lost time required to fix the track.
