Carlos Sainz was diagnosed with appendicitis on Friday, as Ferrari confirmed on social media. The Scuderia also confirmed a few hours later that the Spaniard had already undergone surgery and everything went well.
Sainz was already feeling unwell on Wednesday, but still drove in FP1 and FP2. However, as he kept feeling unwell, further analysis diagnosed him with appendicitis.
Ferrari’s statement on social media reads: “Carlos is out of surgery. Everything went well, and he is now resting at the hospital. We’re sending him our full support for a quick recovery.”
Of course, the Spaniard won’t be able to drive for the rest of the weekend, and Oliver Bearman already substituted him in FP3, and will do so for the rest of the weekend.
