Esteban Ocon admitted that despite a “frustrating” start to the season, his approach, and vision won’t vary, and he will always try to extract the maximum out of the car.

Alpine appeared to struggle during pre-season testing already. The French outfit seemed to be lacking performance in many areas, and that proved to be the case both in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

The team is now trying to come back and improve a tough season’s start with a change in the key figures of the team. Meanwhile, Ocon knows that as a driver, he must do the best job he can to help Alpine get back on the right track.

“The most important [thing] for me is to extract the maximum out of the car and do the best job I can.

“[I want to] come out of the car after the weekend and think, ‘OK, I’ve done the maximum that I could have done, [I’ve] done the best out of my weekend’.

“It doesn’t change my vision of things and how I want to approach the weekends.”

Ocon concluded by saying that, of course, it is a “frustrating” situation, but everybody keeps sticking together to maintain the morale as high as possible.

“Obviously, it is a frustrating time as a driver, as an engineer, as a team boss, [for] everyone,” he said.

“We don’t like the situation we’re in. We keep sticking together, all around the team and that’s the most important [thing].

“If the morale goes down, everyone is down after such difficult times [when] you are going downhill. That’s not the case.”
