Andretti Formula E Team has confirmed that Formula 2 hopefuls Zane Maloney and Jak Crawford will participate in Formula E rookie tests in Misano and Berlin, respectively.

This is not the first time the young Barbadian and the current leader of the Formula 2 championship head into the Formula E world.

Last year, Zane Maloney participated in a practice session at the Rome e-Prix. Maloney was invited to test for the American Formula E team in the preseason tests in Valencia.

This year, Sauber Academy drivers will test in Misano’s practice session and the official Berlin rookie test.

Meanwhile, this is Crawford’s first opportunity to jump into the seat of the FE team. The young Aston Martin Academy member will only join the official rookie test in the German capital.

Formula E is slowly becoming a route for the drivers who could not find a place in Formula 1 once their Formula 2 campaign finishes.

For instance, last year’s rookie test gathered a couple of multi-time F2 race winners.

The likes of Robert Shwartzman, Luca Ghiotto, and Victor Martins have all tested for various Formula E teams in 2023.

The most successful case is the former AlphaTauri driver and 2019 Formula 2 champion Nyck DeVries, who won the championship in the 2020/21 FE season with the Mercedes.

Out of the current FE roster, Sergio Sette-Camara, Dan Ticktum, Jehan Daruvala, and Nyck de Vries represent Formula 2’s alumni.
