Max Verstappen scored an incredible pole position in Melbourne after a “tricky” weekend, showing his superiority once again.
Ferrari seemed to have a shot at scoring its first pole position of the year after looking strong during the three free practice sessions. However, Verstappen managed to find the perfect lap right in Q3, leaving his closest rival Carlos Sainz +0.270s behind.
“It was a bit unexpected today in qualifying, but I’m really happy with Q3. Those laps felt really, really nice.
“It was a tricky weekend so far, but we managed to be there in the end. Ferrari looks quick in the long run, so it’s a bit of a question mark for tomorrow.”
