Sauber F1 Team’s duo Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu have asked to neutralize ineffective and overly slow pit-stops that have caught off guard the Swiss F1 outfit.
Sauber is currently sitting on the penultimate step of the constructor’s standings with no points to its tally.
In each of the three races so far, one of Sauber’s drivers has suffered a massive loss of positions and time on race day due to pit stop problems.
The issues were initially attributed to a wheel gun failure that cost the Chinese driver a point finish at the season opener in Bahrain.
These pit-stop issues soon transformed into a slow pit-crew reaction that demoted Bottas’ chances of a points-paying result in Melbourne. The Finn was fighting for the 10th place.
Bottas was very vocal about pit-stop strategies and pit-crew reactions.
“It’s not great, it’s frustrating because I think we had a good pace, a good start, we should have ideally got points with the performance we had.”
The 10-time Grand Prix winner finished the race in 14th place, just ahead of his teammate, Zhou Guanyu.
“A thirty-second pit stop is not really acceptable, but we are working on it,” Bottas expressed following a disappointing race’s outcome.
Zhou agreed with his teammate and has set the focus on solving these difficulties.
“It is the priority to fix for the remaining races because it’s very important”.
