Sauber is having major issues with pit stops that are costing both Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou important point finishes in the first part of the season.
Bottas wanted the issue fixed as soon as possible and ahead of the Japanese GP the team has been working to reduce the problem, which might be completely fixed only in a few weeks, before the Chinese GP.
“Some measures have been taken, but it’s still not 100% fixed, unfortunately,” he told Motorsport.com.
“But, again, the chance of having an issue should be lower. Basically, it is an issue that we didn’t know before the season that it would be an issue, and it’s not a quick fix.
“But there is a 100% fix planned, hopefully for China. Still not 100% sure. But here, extra measures have been taken on that.”
Bottas didn’t hide his disappointment, and he felt frustrated to miss out on points due to that issue. However, he supports the team and has trust in the work that has been done to fix the issue.
But we’re in this together,” he added. “I was disappointed, but the whole team was disappointed because these things shouldn’t happen.
“So, we’re definitely taking it seriously, and it is a priority now to get that sorted.”
