Max Verstappen takes his fourth pole position in the fourth race of the season, sharing the front row with his teammate Sergio Perez.
Verstappen propelled Red Bull to its third front-row lockout in the last six years, pushed by his teammate in a qualifying session that was “quite close at the end.”
Verstappen acknowledged the track’s sensitivity with tires and the challenges of pushing the limits, saying: “When you really want to go to the limit, it doesn’t always work out.”
When asked about his thoughts heading into tomorrow’s Japanese Grand Prix, Max commented: “It’s great as a team to be P1 and P2, and hopefully we can keep that going tomorrow.”
Verstappen and Perez will line up in front of Norris and Sainz to start the race, “a very good day, and good starting position,” the Dutchman concluded.
