Sources have told Sky News that Red Bull designer Adrian Newey wants to leave the team after informally voicing his discontent with the Christian Horner-managed squad.

The Austrian brand has seen a great deal of drama within the sport in the last few months, including the allegations of sexual misconduct against team principal Horner, which saw a leak of alleged chats between him and a female worker.

Now, Sky Sports says senior figures within the sport have told it that Newey has communicated his wish to depart from the team.

Sky Sports News reporter Craig Slater said “several” senior figures close to Newey have told him that “he has communicated informally with some Red Bull figures that he would like to leave the team.”

Red Bull has allegedly said that no formal resignation from Newey has been received on their end.
