After a long and illustrious career with Red Bull Racing, Adrian Newey, the legendary technical director of the Austrian team, has officially announced his departure. The long-awaited news was confirmed by Red Bull Racing on May 1st, marking the end of an era in Formula 1.

Newey is recognized as one of the brightest minds in racing car design and will step down in the first quarter of 2025. His influence and expertise have been crucial to Red Bull Racing since he arrived in 2006. Under his leadership, the team has won seven Drivers’ World Championship titles and six Constructors’ World Championship titles, amassing an impressive total of 118 victories and 101 pole positions.

Red Bull Racing CEO Christian Horner hailed Newey’s contribution as “a true F1 legend”. His departure leaves a huge gap in the team, but he will continue to provide support at specific races until the end of the 2024 season.

Despite his retirement from design work at Red Bull Racing, Newey will focus on an exciting new project: the final development and delivery of Red Bull’s first hypercar, the highly anticipated RB17. This ground-breaking car will be unveiled at the iconic Goodwood event in July, marking a new phase in Newey’s automotive engineering legacy.

Adrian Newey’s departure represents the end of a glorious era for Red Bull Racing, but his legacy will live on through the many successes he helped to achieve. As the team prepares for the future, it remains grateful to Newey for his dedication, vision, and technical genius that have shaped the history of Formula 1.

However, Newey’s professional future remains uncertain for the time being. After almost two decades with Red Bull Racing, he is now entering a new phase of his professional life, with a host of opportunities open to him.
