Lando Norris scored his first Formula 1 win with an incredible, perfect performance in Miami. Max Verstappen only finished second, with Charles Leclerc in P3.
It was a chaotic start with Sergio Perez who almost took out both Ferraris and Max Verstappen in turn 1 as he missed the breaking point. Fortunately, there was no contact.
In the back as well, many battles were going on immediately from the start. Meanwhile, Oscar Piastri overtook Charles Leclerc for P2, and the latter was also under pressure from his teammate Carlos Sainz.
Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hülkenberg were fighting for P7, and George Russell was also very close. Yuki Tsunoda, Lance Stroll, and Pierre Gasly were also close to the top ten.
Lando Norris quickly closed the gap to Perez and seemed to have the pace to overtake him. However, the Red Bull was extremely quick on the straight. The Mexican driver pitted on lap 18, while Leclerc stopped two laps later as he couldn’t overtake Piastri.
The stewards deployed a virtual safety car as a cone hit by Verstappen was on the racing line. It was removed quickly, and the race resumed immediately.
On lap 28, Kevin Magnussen and Logan Sargeant crashed, and the safety car was deployed. The American driver had to retire, while the Haas driver continued. Norris was P1 and pitted under the safety car, allowing him to maintain the lead of the race.
After the restart, Verstappen tried to overtake Norris, but the Britton managed to keep the position, and he was starting to create a gap. Leclerc was also closer to the Red Bull driver than Verstappen was to the McLaren.
Sainz and Piastri were fighting hard for P4 and made contact. The Aussie driver damaged his front wing and had to pit, while the Ferrari driver continued and kept the position.
In the end, Norris managed to beat Verstappen on pace and scored his maiden Formula 1 win in great fashion. The Dutchman finished in P2, and Leclerc was third. Sainz, Perez, Hamilton, Tsunoda, Russell, Alonso, and an incredible Ocon completed the top 10.
