Lando Norris, McLaren MCL38, 1st position, crosses the line to cheers from his team on the pit wall

Carried by a phenomenal pace McLaren has shown so far in the 2024 Formula 1 championship, the newest inductee into the list of Formula 1 winners Lando Norris has expressed great optimism for the foreseeable future.

Last weekend saw 24-year-old Bristolian ‘cruise’ to his maiden Formula 1 victory at the Miami Grand Prix.

This was McLaren’s first win since the Italian Grand Prix in 2021 when Daniel Ricciardo and Norris brought a maximum amount of points to the Woking-based outfit.

Norris was asked about McLaren’s chances after two podiums and victory along with battles for the 2nd place with Ferrari.

“100%. And I’m saying that still with my feet on the ground.”

“As much as I said at the beginning of this year we can win races, I want to believe and I should have the confidence to say next year we can go for more, we can go for the next step.” – Norris stated.

Briton’s intention was behind a hope that McLaren could come a step closer and shake Red Bull’s dominance.

Norris beat Red Bull’s triple world champion Max Verstappen by 7.6 seconds on Sunday after a safety car period fell to his advantage.

Even the current leader in the world championship and the reigning 3-time world champion Max Verstappen is hopeful about a more competitive McLaren.

“I think we’re looking at an exciting season between us, Red Bull, Ferrari. We still have work to do, we’re not at the level that they are just yet.” – Verstappen reiterated.
