Alessandro Alunni Bravi, the team’s representative, said that Sauber will introduce new upgrades in Imola to enhance the car and pit stops’ performance.

Both Guanyu Zhou and Valtteri Bottas have been struggling so far in 2024. The car hasn’t been competitive enough to enter the top 10 at every venue, and when there was the possibility to score points, the pit stops literally took ages, ruining the drivers’ races.

Then, Sauber started working to fix those pit stop issues and both in China and Miami, the problems seemed to have improved. Despite that, on US soil, the team wasn’t fast enough to fight for points, therefore, nailing or failing a pit stop didn’t make a huge difference.

Regarding the outfit’s performance, Alunni Bravi said that upgrades are expected in Imola. Such updates will probably determine how Sauber will perform in the next three to four races.

“Again, we need to bring upgrades, we need to do an extra step in the performance, because what’s been done so far, it’s not sufficient.

“We have important upgrades in Imola. Not only concerning our pit stop because we will have all the new parts to ultimately fix the problem with pit stops.

“Then we will have an important upgrade coming in Imola. So I think that this will determine the next three-four races and the possibility for us to score points or not.”
