Ferrari-backed driver academy member Oliver Bearman has been confirmed to partake in the first practice session of the Spanish GP.
The second out of the potential six Friday sessions with the American team is a part of the evaluation for the F1 seat in 2025.
Bearman will replace departing Nico Hülkenberg, who he outpaced at Imola’s FP1 session.
It is a fairly reasonable decision to announce Bearman for Friday’s session at the Catalunya circuit due to its ‘testing’ character and a blend of high-speed and low-speed corners that are set to prepare not only a car but a driver.
Albeit an abysmal start into the F2 season and currently sitting in 13th place with 4th place from Monaco Feature as the season’s highest, there are big hopes on the Briton’s back that can prove his abilities for the F1 step.
Once again, Oliver Bearman will perform a double duty this weekend as he is also set for Round 6 of the Formula 2 championship.
