Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz had a tense battle on the track and disagreed on a few things after the race, but Frederic Vasseur is not worried about their relationship.

The two Ferrari drivers made contact in turn 1 as Sainz tried to overtake his teammate. That caused Leclerc to slightly damage his front wing, and by what the Monégasque said, that move compromised his and the Spaniard’s race.

On the other hand, Sainz believes that that was the right moment to be aggressive, and also underlined how Leclerc complains about something “too many times” after the races.

The tension seems high inside the team after the Spanish GP, but Vasseur doesn’t believe that the relationship between Leclerc and Sainz is now ruined.

“I think you can find 10 examples or circumstances in the race where we [lost] half a second,” Vasseur said.

“Carlos let [Leclerc] go very easily later on, and we missed a couple of tenths for two or three laps.

“Let us discuss it and not draw conclusions from the first comments of the driver when he jumps out of the car.

“Out of the car, they have a very good relationship, good mutual trust, and they are racers.”

Ferrari’s team principal also said that this level of competitiveness between the two can actually help the team.

“For sure you can have this kind of case, but I know perfectly that from this situation, we are getting a lot.

“Last year, we recovered because we had this situation between them and this competition all over the season.

“Sometimes, what happened, happens, and it is part of the game.”
