American Formula 1 outfit Haas has confirmed that the current Ferrari Academy Driver and F2 Prema Racing driver, Oliver Bearman will join their ranks for the 2025 season.
Young Briton’s connections with the Haas team were already deepened prior to this season when an agreement was established through which the youngster would take part in 6 Free Practice sessions with the North Carolina-based team.
“It’s hard to put into words just how much this means to me.”
“To say out loud that I will be a Formula 1 driver for MoneyGram Haas F1 Team makes me so immensely proud.” – Bearman noted.
British F2 driver has already shown his gratitude to team principal Ayao Komatsu and team’s owner Gene Haas for the immense support he received.
Despite Haas being skeptical of signing young drivers after a ‘disastrous’ 2021 season in which the rookie lineup of Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin could not score a point for the team, Haas has seemingly returned to showing trust in rookie drivers.
“He’s developed into an incredibly mature driver under the guidance of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy and the world saw that for themselves when he was called in at the last minute to compete at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.”
Bearman’s performances were shown when Briton replaced Carlos Sainz at the Saudi Arabian GP where he crossed the line in 7th place.
Albeit poor 2024 F2 campaign, Bearman has impressive junior categories results.
The new Haas driver is a 2021 Italian F4 champion, finished 3rd in his rookie F3 season, and managed to grab 4 wins in his 2023 initial F2 campaign.
