Campos driver Isack Hadjar gets his third F2 Feature race victory of the season at the F2 Feature Race to close the chapter of the British Round. Rodin’s Zane Maloney came in second ahead of penalty-stricken Jak Crawford of the DAMS, who crossed the line in first place initially.
Resurging Franco Colapinto delivered in 4th after an unsuccessful alternative strategy due to a very late stop. Martins who lead the race at early points, closes the top 5 of the F2 Feature Race.
With this victory, the Frenchman overtook Paul Aron for the lead and created a gap of 16 points.
F2 Feature Race’s initial chaotic period which had seen two Safety Car outings in the first 4 laps turned into a strategy-frenzy race which was slightly overshadowed by penalties to certain race leaders.
Another championship contender, Campos’ Isack Hadjar started from the pole position ahead of his countryman and ART’s Victor Martins.
His nearest championship contender Paul Aron ended the race in 12th after a forced late stop took his lead in the race.
F2 Feature Race recap
Pole-sitter Hadjar ‘fell asleep’ at the start as he was overtaken by Martins and Bearman who challenged the Frenchman into the Luffield section.
The contact between F2 Sprint Race winner Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Invicta’s Kush Maini resulted in the Italian’s DNF and the deployment of the Safety Car.
The F2 grid’s race-craft inexperience sent out another Safety Car after just half of a clean lap. Paraguayan Joshua Dürksen collided with the championship leader Hitech’s own Paul Aron heading into Woodcote corner.
Dürksen’s displeasure with the potential lack of space that Aron gave him is best summed up in the radio message by the AIX driver.
It is always like this with Aron. He is so dirty.

Estonian driver suffered a puncture and was forced to an early race tweak strategy that was more compromised after receiving a 10-second penalty for the incident.
On lap 9, the F2 Feature Race pole-sitter overtook Prema’s Bearman at the Hangar straight for the P2. This move prompted race leader Victor Martins to head down to pitlane to neutralize Hadjar’s undercut opportunity.
Martins’ lead has shrunk down to 6 tenths to Hadjar, and the first attempt of overtake around the outside of the Stove corner was unsuccessful for the young Red Bull academy member.
F2 Feature Race got into its traditional period where drivers on alternative strategy are expecting a surprisingly safe car to lose less time in the pits and gain more time on drivers that are pitted as the race goes by.
On lap 18 Frenchmen’s battle reignited with Martins going off track at the Farm section. The distraction of two drivers brought DAMS’ Jak Crawford and Rodin’s Zane Maloney into contention for a race win. Ultimately, Martin’s dropped down to 4th place.

Alternative strategy guys (Colapinto, Correa, Marti, and Stanek) headed down to pit with just 6 laps remaining putting on a fresh set of soft tires.
New race leader Paul Aron had to take a set of different tires to prevent disqualification, this promoted Jak Crawford to the first place but he had to give his first place to Isack Hadjar due to a penalty.
F2 drivers will close the first half of the season with the doubleheader in Hungary and Belgium after one week’s break.
