Danish Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen and Haas have confirmed his departure from the team at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season.
This would mark the end of Magnussen’s second stint with the American team after he ‘surprisingly’ returned before the 2022 season started.
Haas’ ‘record-setting’ Magnussen, took part in 135 Grand Prix (to date) for the Kannapolis-based outfit after performing between 2017 and 2020, and then again between 2022 and culminating with the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
In his farewell statement, the Danish driver expressed his gratitude to the entire Haas Team. He would even directly send his regards to team owner, Gene Haas who contributed to Magnussen’s 2022 return.
“It’s been an incredible journey, seven seasons filled with both highs and lows and lots of big moments and fantastic memories, and I’d like to thank everyone at the team – I’m blessed to have raced for such a great team of people.”
Magnussen, who brought the team’s first pole position at the 2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix did not want to comment on his future yet.
“Your support means so much to me and I look forward to sharing the next phase of my racing journey with all of you. Until then, I remain fully focused on giving everything I’ve got for the rest of the year with MoneyGram Haas F1 Team.”
Despite this, rumors are circulating that Dane is in talks with Williams and Alpine F1 team as much as switch to WEC or IMSA racing categories is not far from reality either.
