Carlos Sainz preferred not to comment regarding what happened during the final stages of the Las Vegas GP between him and his teammate Charles Leclerc.

The Monégasque was pretty disappointed about Ferrari and Sainz’s behavior as to how they handled the strategy at the end of the race since the Spaniard was told not to overtake him, but the former did so anyway.

Leclerc expressed his dissatisfaction, while Sainz said that they agreed not to speak to the media to avoid any further chaos and that the situation will stay between them.

“I agreed not to talk to the media because we would just make things worse. I agreed with him not to say anything. I’ll discuss with him what happened. These are things that will stay between us.

“I never speak on the radio or to the media because I think it’s not a nice thing to do, and it’s not necessary.”

He then went on to explain the strategy and how the team should’ve handled it in a better way, something that would’ve avoided so much chaos.

“It’s not the time to find who’s at fault, we need to analyze. I had been asking to pit for a few laps because I knew Charles was faster, and I wanted to let him by.

“Hamilton was right behind us and I wanted to pit. We didn’t do so, and I stayed out for two more laps. Things didn’t work out well either for me or Charles. We also messed up the first time I was about to pit, which led me to lose race time.

“It wasn’t an easy situation to handle, but that’s how things went. I still want to analyze things better later and not talk here.”
