After a fantastic season, Lando Norris extended his contract with McLaren last month and explained that talks for a new deal with a different outfit “shut down quite quickly”.
Before McLaren and the Brit announced that they would continue together in the future, Norris was linked to a possible move away from the British outfit.
Even though he admitted talking to different teams, as many drivers do, he also added that “nothing ever progressed more than that,” referring to just talking.
“Everyone speaks to everyone, every driver speaks to every team. It’s not in terms of just sorting contracts. It’s what can one team offer you, and what can another team offer you, and things like that.
“It’s the same with every driver. Everyone speaks to every team about what could we potentially do one day, but nothing ever progressed more than that, basically. It was shut down quite quickly.”
