Mercedes just revealed the W15 a few hours after McLaren broke covers, too. After a year without victories, the Brackley-based outfit aims to close the gap to the front in 2024.
It’s going to be an important season for Mercedes, which has been struggling since 2022 when the regulations changed. Its last victory was in Brazil, in 2022.
Not only that, the upcoming season will be the last with Lewis Hamilton, and closing their partnership on a high would mean a lot for both parties. The Briton won 6 drivers championships with the British outfit and broke many records.
Delivering a good car that can perform well will also be crucial for Mercedes since it would attract high-caliber drivers, like Fernando Alonso, who could be a possible replacement in 2025.
The team might also choose to develop the car toward a style that suits George Russell better since he will probably be the team’s future star from next year onward.
