Scuderia Ferrari have confirmed Carlos Sainz will race in the upcoming Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.
Sainz was taken out of the race at Saudi Arabia due to an appendicitis, and was replaced by Academy driver Oliver Bearman.
There were doubts about the Spaniard’s recovery, but his team have now confirmed he will race around Melbourne after a taking time to rest during the week.
However, time will tell how the number 55 adapts back to racing after the surgery.
“Sainz is expected to be back in the car, having had to miss Jeddah with appendicitis. He and team mate Charles Leclerc will most likely be fighting at the front of the field, as they have done in the first two rounds,” a team statement says.
