After finishing only third in the constructors championship, Ferrari is working hard to improve its car ahead of the 2024 season to be more competitive and fight for more wins.

Even though Frederic Vasseur said that the team cannot be “too optimistic” for the next season, he also believes that the Scuderia is “going in the right direction” and that the team is making a “good step forward”.

“Now the expectation is that we are focussed on ourselves,” he said. “We are making a good step forward. But in the end, it’s always a matter of comparison.

“So far, the most important is to continue to push, to continue to develop, to have the drivers into the middle of the project and they are fully involved in the development.

“I think that, so far, we are going in the right direction. I don’t know if the others will go more or less. We will see in Bahrain.”

Speaking about the new car, Vasseur also said that 95% of the components are going to be different. That is probably to address the issues that both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc had during the 2023 campaign. However, the Ferrari team principal would not call it a revolution, but just a big step forward in terms of performance.

“Revolution – I don’t know if it is the right word because we have the same regulation now three years in a row you can’t change massively the situation.

“Again, it’s a matter of tenths of seconds. It means it’s all 0.1 or 0.2% performance that we are looking for. It’s not five [percent].

“We are changing 95% of the components of the car. Perhaps you can consider that it’s a revolution.”
