Ferrari has confirmed that Charles Leclerc will have a different engineer starting from the Emilia Romagna GP, as Xavier Marcos won’t cover that role anymore.
The Monégasque and his – now former – engineer have been working together since the Ferrari driver joined the team in 2019. A statement released by the Scuderia itself reads that Marcos “will bring his valuable experience gained as a race engineer with the Formula 1 team to the development of other important company programs”.
Especially in the last few seasons, a few of Marcos’ team radio messages produced quite some confusion to Leclerc, and some of his calls have also been costly in terms of the final result of the race.
From Imola onward, Bryan Bozzi, who already has 10 years of experience with Ferrari, will be Leclerc’s new race engineer.
