On Thursday morning before the final Formula 1 round before summer break, the Haas F1 Team announced Esteban Ocon as their newest acquisition for the 2025 season and beyond.
With this move, another puzzle in Formula 1’s transfer saga gets completed as Ocon steps in as Magnussen’s replacement.
Frenchmen will therefore join Prema Racing’s Formula 2 driver Oliver Bearman who will step up into his first full Formula 1 season after partaking in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as Carlos Sainz’ substitution.
Haas’ newest signee departs from the ‘problems stricken’ Alpine F1 Team after spending 5 seasons with the French outfit, collecting 1 victory at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix and 2 podiums.
Haas’ Team principal Ayao Komatsu reflected on Ocon’s arrival.
“I’m delighted we’ve secured Esteban Ocon’s services for Haas.”
“I’ve obviously been aware of his talents for a long time and our personal history dates back to Esteban’s maiden run in a Formula 1 car where I was his race engineer that day with Lotus.”
Furthermore, Komatsu noted that Ocon’s experience would benefit not only the team but his future partner, rookie Oliver Bearman.
Arriving 1-time Grand Prix winner expressed his enthusiasm of joining the American F1 Team.
“Haas has exciting plans and clear targets for the future, and I’m very much looking forward to working with everyone in Kannapolis, Banbury and Maranello, and being part of this great project.”
