Sprint qualifying winner Oscar Piastri noted that new modifications at Interlagos make the track even more challenging than it was.
McLaren’s driver narrowly beat his teammate Lando Norris by 0.029 seconds in the last round of the Sprint qualifying after Norris had an upper hand in the previous sessions in Sao Paulo.
Piastri pointed out uncertainty regarding Saturday’s Sprint race mentioning a couple of key factors that could play a role in the outcome.
“It’s going to be a very different kind of sprint to last year, I think with the resurfacing. So we’ll see what the temperature does, what the weather does.”
Weather forecasts have been suggesting a possibility of rain for both versions of a race during the Sao Paulo GP.
Piastri has also given his feedback on a newly resurfaced Interlagos circuit,
With the track this year, it’s kinda it’s, it’s hard enough to see where you’re going, let alone try and do a fast lap, so it’s challenging out there, but I’m happy to have qualified on Pole.” – Piastri stated.
