Franco Colapinto suffered a heavy crash during the Las Vegas GP qualifying session and is now in doubt for Sunday’s race due to the severity of the shunt.
Williams stated that the crash sustained by the Argentinian was over 50G. Therefore, he needed further medical checkups. His condition will be reevaluated tomorrow before the race.
“During qualifying Franco sustained a significant impact of over 50G, requiring a medical check-up,” read a Williams statement.
“An impact of this magnitude is obviously significant and severe and he will need to be evaluated again tomorrow before we will know whether he is clear to race.
“Franco’s health is all that matters and we are glad he is otherwise okay. We will provide further updates when we can.”
Another concern for Williams is the level of damage caused by the heavy crash, which is the sixth significant one in just three races. That is surely not great news for the team as the spare parts at the end of the season start to become fewer and fewer.
