Charles Leclerc finished P4 in Las Vegas after a disappointing and frustrating end to the Grand Prix, which saw him complain about the team and Carlos Sainz’s decisions.
The Ferrari driver had an almost perfect start to the race, as he went up to P2 and was putting George Russell under pressure. After he tried to overtake, his tire gave up on him and he started to struggle, losing positions to Sainz and Max Verstappen.
Despite that, the race strategy allowed him to stay in the fight and he regained those positions. However, after Leclerc pitted, Sainz was close behind and he was told not to overtake. Despite those indications, the Spaniard passed his teammate, who was angry at the end of the race and complained on the radio after the checkered flag.
“I won’t go into the details of what happened,” he said before explaining why he wasn’t happy with the final result.
“There are things that we discuss, but today those things went a bit differently. But that’s fine, we finished P3 and P4 and this result doesn’t change anything for the team.
“However, for the drivers’ championship, I’m a bit disappointed since I’m fighting with [Lando] Norris. Anyway, I know I must rely on myself, as I need to improve in qualifying and do everything perfectly.
“From now on I’ll focus on myself, and I’ll try to get the most out of every weekend.”
