Raptor’s coach Darko Rajaković was furious after the referees conceded 23 free throws to the Lakers just in the 4th quarter.
Raptors lost their latest game against the Lakers 131-132, with the Los Angeles team shooting a whopping 36 free throws – 23 just in the last quarter of the game -.
In the post-game conference, Rajaković was not happy with the referees’ calls and expressed all his anger and disappointment.
“That’s outrageous. What happened tonight, this is completely B.S.,” he said. “This is a shame. Shame for the referees. Shame for the league to allow this. Twenty-three free throws for them, and we get two free throws in the fourth quarter? I understand respect for All-Stars and all that, but we have star players on our team as well.
“How [is it] possible that Scottie Barnes, who is [an] All-Star-caliber player in this league, he goes every single time to the rim with force and trying to get to the rim without flopping and not trying to get foul calls, he gets two free throws for a whole game? How is that possible? How are you going to explain that to me?”
Out of 44 points scored by the Lakers in the fourth quarter, 19 of those were free throws. Rajaković continued by saying that what happened “was not fair” and that it was not the “first time for us [Raptors]”. Raptor’s coach might have been referring to the game against the LA Clippers 10 months ago.
During that game, the referee was Ben Taylor, the same one the Raptors had against the Lakers. Even during the match against the Clippers, many felt that Taylor did not do a great job – to use an euphemism -.
